LP Building Products Supports Home for Wounded Kansas Vet

OTTAWA, Kansas (August 5, 2011) – LP Building Products has increased its support of Operation Finally Home, which builds homes for wounded veterans across the United States, by donating LP® SmartSide® engineered wood trim, siding, soffit and fascia for the “Extreme Makeover: Home Edition” home build in Ottawa for Staff Sgt. Allen Hill and his family the week of August 1.

LP’s donation was made through Wausau Supply Co. in New Century, Kansas, and McCray Lumber & Millwork of Kansas City. LP contributed 2,464 lineal feet of trim, 600 square feet of lap siding, soffit and fascia. Wausau Supply delivered the materials free of charge to the job site. The build location is 11 Wheatland Dr., Ottawa.

LP is working with Operation Finally Home in other cities to donate products and even help recruit builders for new home construction for wounded veterans.

Dan Vargas, Tech. Sgt., USAF (retired) and executive director of Operation Finally Home, said, “We must do everything we can to help wounded veterans. So many have debilitating injuries but are working hard to help themselves. Operation Finally Home and its founder, Dan Wallrath, are privileged to take leadership in building homes for these men and women. God bless them. We’re grateful to ‘Extreme Makeover’ and LP Building Products for supporting our mission.”

Mike Harmon, an LP central region channel manager who lives in the Kansas City area, said, “LP loves supporting our troops because of the tremendous sacrifices they make.
